Twillingate

The inhabitants of this scenic old fishing village make their living from the sea and have been doing so for nearly two centuries. Colorful houses, rocky waterfront cliffs, local museums, and a nearby lighthouse add to the town's appeal. One of the best places on the island to see icebergs, Twillingate is known to the locals as Iceberg Alley. These majestic and dangerous mountains of ice are awe inspiring to see when they're grounded in early summer. With its range of lodging options, and live local entertainment through the summer season at the Orange Lodge on the main strip (aka the "Touton House"), Twillingate makes a good base for exploring the surrounding region.
