Boat and Ferry Travel

Bay Ferries Ltd. runs from Saint John, New Brunswick, to Digby, Nova Scotia, and back once or twice a day, depending on the season. Passenger fares are C$38–C$48 per adult one way or C$61–C$81 round-trip, C$116 for a car, and C$9.50 per foot for a motorhome or car with trailer.

The year-round 20-minute ferry crossing from L'Etete, on mainland New Brunswick, to Deer Island is a free service operated by Coastal Transport for the government of New Brunswick. From Deer Island, East Coast Ferries Ltd. runs services to Campobello, New Brunswick, and Eastport, Maine, from June through September. On the Campobello route, the fares are C$16 for a car and driver, and C$4 for each adult passenger. For a motorhome and car with trailer the fare is C$1.50 per foot, plus a fuel surcharge of C$10. The crossing takes about 30 minutes. On the Eastport route, the fares are C$13 for a car and driver and C$4 for each adult passenger. On both routes the fare for motorcycles is C$8 and a fuel surcharge of C$4 is also applied. Foot passengers pay C$5.

Coastal Transport has up to seven crossings per day from Blacks Harbour to Grand Manan late June through mid-September and four crossings per day the rest of the year. Round-trip fares, payable on the Grand Manan side, are C$35.80 for a car and C$12 for an adult. A one-way crossing takes about 1½ hours.
