Fodor's Expert Review OPUS Vancouver Hotel

322 Davie St., Vancouver, British Columbia, V6B 5Z6, Canada Fodor's Choice

Groundbreakingly trendy when it opened in 2002, the OPUS continues to reinvent itself and live up to the motto of being a "place to be, not just a place to stay." The design team created a set of online fictitious characters, then decorated the rooms to suit each "persona." Guests are matched with room styles using the Lifestyle Concierge. For example, Billy's room is fun and offbeat, with pop art and lime-green accents. Dede's room has leopard skin, velveteen, and faux-fur accents. All have an iPad to bring the city to your fingertips, ultrafast Wi-Fi, lots of natural light, and views of the city or the Japanese garden in the courtyard. Two rooms have private access to the garden. Other perks include an excellent on-site Italian restaurant and free car service anywhere Downtown. The Canada Line from the airport is steps away.
