Accessibility

Both visitor information centers are fully accessible. Many campgrounds are wheelchair accessible, as are several trails, and Banff Transit operates one fully accessible shuttle. For the specifics on accessible campgrounds and trails, call the information center at 403/762–1550.

Park Fees and Permits

A park entrance pass costs C$9.80 per person or C$19.60 maximum for up to seven people per vehicle per day. An annual pass costs C$67.70 per adult or C$136.40 per family or group. Larger buses and vans pay a group commercial rate. If you're planning to stay a week or more, your best bet is an annual pass.

Permits are required for backcountry camping and some other activities. Backcountry camping permits (C$9.80 per person per night), fire permits (C$8.80 per day), dumping station permits (C$8.80 per day), and fishing permits (C$9.80 per day) are available at the park visitor information center or at some campgrounds. In some cases a fire permit is included in your camping fees. Be sure to check with campground staff.

The park, open 24/7 year-round, is in the Mountain time zone.

Cell-Phone Reception

Cell-phone service is sometimes unpredictable, but is fairly good near the Banff Townsite. Public telephones can be found at the information centers, at most hotels and bars, and at several key spots around the townsite of Banff and the village of Lake Louise.
