Fodor's Expert Review American Trade Hotel

The style-conscious folks of the U.S.-based boutique hotelier Ace Hotels are partly responsible for the American Trade, one of the city's most beautiful boutique hotels. A former 1930s apartment building—which had sat abandoned and neglected for decades—has been recast as a one-of-a-kind luxury hotel, with a high-ceilinged lobby with a pristine tile floor and comfy furnishings, as well as a pricey-but-worth-it restaurant and lobby bar. Guest rooms are near-perfect, with custom-made wood furnishings, 32" TV, rain shower, free Wi-Fi, and minibar. The hotel also has a small outdoor swimming pool, an interior courtyard, and a lovely reading library with its own bar.
