Fodor's Expert Review Palacio de la Música

This museum in the heart of the historic center, designed in a collaboration between four leading architecture firms, made a dramatic statement in Mérida's downtown when in opened in 2019, garnering generally positive reviews. The museum covers the history of Mexican music and its diverse periods of influence—pre-Hispanic, colonial, and contemporary. Dozens of listening stations offer chances to listen to tracks that encompass Mexican music in all its diversity, from traditional rancheras to classical compositions to current pop and rock stars, and more. The museum hosts concerts focused on both contemporary and classical music.
