Easily Playa's most stylish property, this is the digs for the nightclubbing tropical jet set. It's right in the middle of club land on Calle 12, which is a plus—or a minus, depending on how you like to spend your evenings. Imposing Indonesian-style mahogany furnishings and big-deal marble bathrooms lend the spacious rooms an air of gravitas; all beds are king-size.

Lowest-price standard rooms all have little garden patios, a deluxe amenity uncommon in hotel "cheap seats."

The 4,000-square-foot spa offers services like Mayan healing baths and an aromatherapy oxygen bar. Sister property Mosquito Beach Hotel, two blocks away, brings the same hipper-than-thou aesthetic to its beach club, with sun beds draped with lovely young things sipping caipirinhas.
