Del Sol Beachfront
Calle Caleta Yalku Mz.7 Lot.41G, Akumal, Quintana Roo 77731, MexicoWhy We Like It
Three words: beach, beach, beach. Few places are so beachfront as Del Sol. We love the hammocks on every single balcony, that’s our favorite spot to watch those spectacular sunrises of Akumal. Enjoying access to La Buena Vida restaurant, bar and pool is a great add-on.
Fodor's Expert Review
Del Sol Beachfront Hotel (formerly known as Vista del Mar) is a picturesque place with a colorful façade and personality. A cozy little hotel, steps away from the Caribbean Sea. An intriguing option for an affordable and longer-than-usual vacation.
You Should Know Even though the beach is gorgeous, seaweed is a frequent sight in the area.

Room
Every hotel room or condo is beachfront located, hence the name of the hotel. Design and decoration are low-key, with mostly white walls and wooden doors and furniture. Each balcony has its own inviting hammock. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning and ceiling fans.
Bathroom
Decorated with colored tiles Mexican-style, the bathrooms are functional and well-appointed; although some of them lack a bit in space.
Lobby
The lobby here is actually more like just a reception desk, not much to write home about.
Pool
A short stroll down the beach is located La Buena Vida Restaurant’s swimming pool, which all guests of Del Sol have access to. Enjoying a drink, or even a snack by the pool is not only allowed, but encouraged.
Dining
What says ‘Mexican sleepy beach town’ more than a palapa roof restaurant with sandy floor and plastic chairs? That’s exactly what La Buena Vida is. A mix of Mexican and Caribbean cuisine is served all year round for lunch and dinner. Breakfasts only available during high season (December to June).
Tip Try booking in advance the crow’s nest, on top of a coconut tree, to enjoy a private romantic dinner.
Drinking
All you need to know about the bar of La Buena Vida (The Good Life) is that it's equipped with swings and rustic wooden stools. Good place to finish the day with friends enjoying a drink by the beach or the pool.

Getting Around
Located at midway between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, Akumal is a good 90-minute from Cancun’s Airport. Private transportation, taxi or renting a car is the best way to arrive. The hotel is well-located just 10 minutes away from Akumal’s downtown. Renting a bike is a nice and feasible way to get to know the area.
Restaurants
You may not notice it because is quite small and unpretentious, but La Lunita (5-minute walk) is recognized for serving excellent gourmet dishes by the beach. For proper Italian food go downtown to Taverna (15-minute walk), just like those in Texas and California.
