Oaxaca City has magnificently restored properties, including a 16th-century convent, new boutique hotels, and many smaller, moderately priced accommodations. Hotels and rates vary considerably on the coast. Most Puerto Escondido and Puerto Angel hotels are relatively inexpensive, but luxury eco-resorts are available and offer a very high standard of accommodation. Huatulco has several luxury resorts, as well as a respectable number of moderately priced accommodations. Budget hotels here are scarce; for the cheapest digs, try the towns of La Crucecita and Mazunte, each a short taxi ride from the more posh properties lining the bays.
