Fodor's Expert Review Puerto Nuevo Hotel & Villas

This '90s-era Puerto Nuevo property is comprised of a hotel and villas and is located just beyond the archway into Puerto Nuevo's lobster village. The hotel's horseshoe-shaped layout centers on a swimming pool just steps from the sand. Airy "junior suites" have garden views and little living rooms with couches and tables. The more impressive "villas" are like little apartments with two floors and kitchenettes and boast water views. Ground-floor rooms have patios, too. There are lots of stairs and rooms are dark, but once you pull back the curtains it's easy to forget the brown stucco walls and dated carpeting. The indoor and outdoor pools, spa, and huge Sunday Brunch with live music still make this a popular weekend getaway. Family-friendly perks include a small petting zoo, playground, and tennis courts.
