Troncones Travel Guide

This once-primitive surf spot along the rugged coast is still pretty remote, but a series of really comfortable—in some cases, luxurious—hostelries have sprung up along the road that traces the waterfront. Thankfully, most of these accommodations try to adapt themselves to the gorgeous environment, rather than the other way around. The focus is on the superb beaches and lush foliage. There is no high-end shopping district, and most of the restaurants are in the hotels. Because of its isolation (you'll need to stop at an ATM before you get here), a lot of establishments (even hotels charging rates of more than US$100 per night) don't take credit cards, so be sure to have cash on hand.
