Metropolitan Guadalajara's traffic gets intense, especially at rush hour, and parking can be scarce. Streets shoot off at diagonals from roundabouts (called glorietas), and on main arteries, turns (including U-turns and left turns) are usually made from right-side lateral roads (called laterales), which can be confusing for drivers unfamiliar with big city traffic. Ubiquitous and inexpensive, taxis are the best way to go in Guadalajara.
