Bus service on Cozumel is basically limited to San Miguel’s residential areas and mostly used by locals, so you’ll need a rental car or taxi to explore. Though it’s tempting to drive on Cozumel’s dirt roads (which lead to the least crowded beaches), most car-rental companies have a policy that voids your insurance once you leave the paved roadway.
