Fodor's Expert Review Mayambé
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
Brightly colored fabrics hang on the walls and from the rafters at this notable, if overrated, Pan-Asian restaurant. Grab a seat in the covered courtyard (sit closer to the fireplace if the night is a bit nippy). The expansive menu, which tends to overreach in places, includes the Vietnamese-style platillo vietnamita (tofu, shrimp, or chicken sautéed with peanuts, cashews, and bits of chili and coconut, and served with sweet coconut rice). Mayambé is a good option for vegetarians, who will enjoy the Indian vegetable, rice, and lentil dishes, although sticklers for authentic Thai will be sorely disappointed. Cocktails are weak and overly sweet.
