Tlaxcala

Tlaxcala (pronounced tlas-ca-la) is a place where you may well find yourself lingering longer than you had planned, lulled by a few hours spent on the Plaza Xicohténcatl or at a café in one of the colonnades near the zócalo. The distinctive terra-cotta roofs gave the state capital the name Ciudad Roja, or Red City. Climb up to one of the hilltop churches and a sea of ruddy roofs will stretch out around you.
