Accommodations

Guatemala has lodging options for every budget, be it backpackers' digs, reliable international hotels, far-flung ecolodges, classy colonial inns, or rustic retreats with local flair.

By law, all lodgings are no-smoking. This includes your room, all common areas, and all outdoor areas on the property.

Apartment and House Rentals

Short-term furnished rentals aren't common in Guatemala, and colonial-style villas in Antigua and occasionally Atitlán make up the bulk of the options. The biggest selection is at Ah! Guatemala, whereas Great Rentals has more unusual properties. Sublet.com and Vacation Rentals By Owner deal with more modest, run-of-the-mill apartments, often as cheap as $300 a week.

Bed and Breakfasts

The Guatemalan definition of B&B might not coincide with yours. The term is frequently extended to luxury hotels that happen to include breakfast in their price; indeed, these make up most of the pickings at Bed & Breakfast.com and Bed & Breakfast Inns Online. The lists at Ah! Guatemala and A Thousand Inns include many homier midrange establishments. For cheap, family-run places, try Traveller's Point.
