Health and Safety

For all emergencies, call the municipal police department. Officers of the Tourist Police patrol most blocks downtown in male–female pairs. Look for them in white pullover shirts, dark trousers, and baseball caps. They can help (in Spanish or English) with information and minor concerns or summon help for more serious matters. The office is near the market, and is open 24 hours.
