Air Travel

If you're arriving from the United States, London's Heathrow and Gatwick airports are generally the best options because of their large number of international flights. Heathrow (2 hours) is slightly closer than Gatwick (2½ hours), but both have excellent motorway links with South Wales. For North Wales, the quickest access is via Manchester Airport, with a travel time of less than an hour to the Welsh border.

Cardiff International Airport, 19 miles from downtown Cardiff, is the only airport in Wales with international flights, but these are mostly from Europe and Canada. A bus service runs from the airport to Cardiff's central train and bus stations.
