Most experts agree that the theater in Aspendos is one of the best preserved in the world. A splendid Roman aqueduct that traverses the valley (another superior example of classical engineering) utilized the pressure of the water flowing from the mountains to supply the summit of the acropolis. The water tower dates from the 2nd century AD, and its stairway is still intact.
