When to Go

Spring and fall are generally the best times to visit these areas, with the exception of cities like Kars and Van, where summers are quite cool compared to the rest of Turkey. Cities like Gaziantep, Diyarbakır, Urfa, and Mardin are best avoided in July and August, when the heat can be sweltering.
