Taxi and Dolmuş Travel

In resort towns like Çeşme, Bodrum, and Kuşadası, taxis have day and night rates: from midnight until 6 am, prices are substantially higher, but there is no charge for luggage. You can hail a cab on the street, or go to a taxi stand (usually the most reliable choice). There are flat rates for traveling between towns, but bargaining is appropriate. Traveling by dolmuş (shared minibus) is a more economical way to travel in and around the resort towns. To get dropped off along the driver’s route, use the phrase "inecek var" (Ee-neh-jeck var), which means "I want to get off." Be sure to speak loudly and clearly—drop one syllable by accident and you’ll find yourself announcing "inek var," which is Turkish for "there is a cow!"
