Tram Travel

There are several tram lines in Istanbul, but the one most useful to visitors runs from Kabataş (below Taksim) along the Bosphorus to Karaköy, across the Galata Bridge to Eminönü, and then to Sultanahmet and Beyazıt/the Grand Bazaar before heading out to the western part of the city. The fare is 4 TL for a token, or 2.15 TL if you have an İstanbulkart, and trams run from around 6 in the morning to just before midnight. There is also a slow but atmospheric historic tram that runs along İstiklal Caddesi between Tünel and Taksim.
