Fodor's Expert Review Adahan Istanbul
General Yazgan Sok. 14, Istanbul, Istanbul, 34430, Turkey
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
An elegant apartment building from 1874 has been lovingly restored by architect-owner Sedat Sırrı Aklan and turned into a charming boutique hotel where no two rooms are exactly alike. The rooms and enormous suites receive lots of natural light and are furnished in a rustic, almost sparse, style, with warm-colored, untreated woods; custom-made, synthetic-free mattresses and textiles; and simple decorative touches like handmade paper lampshades. The public areas are delightful, from the top-floor bar, café, and breakfast area with a wraparound terrace that has splendid views of the Golden Horn to the meeting rooms with original architectural details.
PROS
- highly atmospheric public spaces
- excellent homemade breakfast
- very comfortable beds
CONS
- staff is a little inexperienced and could speak better English
- no real minibar or room service available
- neighborhood can be noisy at night, especially on weekends
