Fodor's Expert Review Zenger Paşa Konağı

$$ Ankara Turkish

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

The top floor of this restored 18th-century Ottoman mansion in the citadel has panoramic city views from a rustic dining room, while the antiques-filled lower levels feel like an ethnographic museum. Though the food isn't much above what you'll get elsewhere in the citadel, one highlight is the saçta kavurma, a meat dish cooked over an alcohol flame as you watch. The restaurant also makes a tasty village-style flatbread called bazlama. There is live Turkish music Tuesday through Saturday nights, and although the place has an undeniably touristy side, it's also popular with locals.
