Biking

Switzerland's high-perched hills, vertiginous vineyards, and steep-sloped trails were once the domain of spandex-clad cyclists, but the introduction of battery-enhanced e-bikes has given casual cyclists reason to rejoice, and new trails have opened from Appenzell to Zug. Many train stations offer an excellent assortment of bikes, including e-bikes.

The Tour de Suisse and other top-name bike competitions pass through the streets during racing season. Serious amateur mountain bikers can test the obstacle course set up in the parking lot of the Crans-Cry D'Er cable car or the two downhill tracks—the easier Mont-Lachaux red track and the challenging Chetseron black track.
