Fodor's Expert Review Mineralbad & Spa Rigi Kaltbad

The region's mineral springs have been attracting visitors for hundreds of years, and this spa represents the latest wave. Perched at 4,757 feet above sea level, the Mineralbad & Spa offers stunning mountain views and delightful pools both inside and out, fed by water from a reputedly healing spring. Designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta, it's fashioned mostly from Italian granite. The adults-only spa has a steam room, a unisex sauna, and a so-called crystal bath, which is pretty but only a few inches deep. Despite its lofty location, the spa is easy to reach by cable car from Weggis or cogwheel train from Vitznau. There's a day rate, and spontaneous visitors can rent a swimsuit and towel for an additional charge.
