Bike Travel

Biking is popular here, and itineraries are varied. You can huff and puff uphill, bounce over mountain-bike trails, or coast along the flatlands around the lakes. Route maps can be picked up in most tourist offices or train stations. Swiss Federal Railways has reasonably priced rentals at most train stations. Bikes must be reserved at least one day in advance, three in summer. Check with tourist offices for a map of over 20 different biking itineraries called La Broye à Vélo. At Estavayer-le-Lac and Payerne, cyclists (and hikers) can also book a "Safari Nature" package with one overnight stay (reserve at least one week in advance).
