Air Travel

Delta Airlines runs direct flights from JFK (New York) to Málaga late May–September and via Charles de Gaulle (Paris) the rest of the year. All other flights from the United States connect in Madrid. British Airways flies several times daily from London (City, Gatwick, and Heathrow) to Málaga, and several budget airlines, such as easyJet, Norwegian Air, and Ryanair also link the two cities. There are direct flights to Málaga from most other major European cities on Iberia or other airlines. Iberia Express/Vueling has five flights daily from Madrid (1 hour 15 minutes), five flights daily from Barcelona (1½ hours), and regular flights from other Spanish cities.

Málaga's Costa del Sol airport is 10 km (6 miles) west of town and is one of Spain’s most modern. Trains from the airport into town run every 20 minutes 6:44 am–12:54 am (12 minutes, €1.80) and from the airport to Fuengirola every 20 minutes 5:32 am–11:42 pm (34 minutes, €2.70), stopping at several resorts en route, including Torremolinos and Benalmádena.

From the airport there's also bus service to Málaga every half hour 7 am–midnight and then three buses between midnight and 6 am (€3). At least 10 daily buses (more frequently July–September) run between the airport and Marbella (45 minutes, €6.15–€8.20). Taxi fares from the airport to Málaga, Torremolinos, and other resorts are posted inside the terminal: from the airport to Marbella is about €65, to Torremolinos €20, and to Fuengirola €35. Many of the better hotels and all tour companies will arrange for pickup at the airport. Uber operates from Málaga Airport to Costa del Sol resorts and Cabify from the airport to Málaga city center. Both services are slightly cheaper than taxis and available via their respective online apps.
