During summer, the lake turns into a family playground, with swimming, rowing, sailing, and windsurfing. The main swimming area lies below the castle along the northern shore. In the winter, you can ski day and night on Straža Hill, immediately above town, thanks to floodlighting. Just 10 km (6 miles) west of Bled, a larger ski area, Zatrnik, has 7 km (4½ miles) of alpine trails. The area's two golf courses—the 18-hole "Kings" course and the 9-hole "Lake" course—are located 4 km (2½ miles) outside of town at the Golf & Country Club Bled.
