Fodor's Expert Review Killiecrankie Hotel
B8079, Killiecrankie, Perth and Kinross, PH16 5LG, Scotland
Editor's Note: This location is reported to be under new ownership and therefore this review may contain inaccuracies.
A neat oasis, this hotel is set amid the wooded hills and streams of the Pass of Killiecrankie. Located in what was once a priest's home, the hotel's clean lines are echoed in the simple, elegant rooms. The bathrooms have touches of luxury, with thick towels and multiple scents. The 5 acres of woodland around the hotel provide gentle walks, but it's also well situated for more ambitious walks or fishing. There's a lunch and early-evening menu in the conservatory, which is slightly different from and cheaper than the à la carte dinner menu in the restaurant; there is an extensive wine list.
PROS
- lovely location
- pleasant rooms
- fine dining
CONS
- books up fast
- rate generally includes dinner (though it's good)
- not cheap
