Located in Troon Harbor, this outstanding seafood restaurant's menu varies with the day's catch, but you can usually count on lobster in garlic butter, seared scallops, or grilled langoustines that taste of the sea. The fish pie is justly famous, and excellent light white wines match the fresh food. Wooden tables and other simple furnishings add a rustic touch. For a more modest price, or if you prefer to watch the fishing boats in the harbor, try the adjacent Wee Hurrie, possibly one of Scotland's best fish-and-chips shops, serving monkfish and oysters as well as the usual fare. Finding McCallums is a bit of an adventure, but it's worth the trek. Check before you go, as the restaurant almost closed despite its popularity.
