Fodor's Expert Review Clifton Hotel

Occupying two of the grand houses along a collection of town houses above Great Western Road, this popular hotel offers wallet-friendly rates and simply furnished rooms done up in cheerful shades. The cheapest rooms (three at around £50) have a shared bathroom; the rest are en suite and nicely if unpretentiously decorated. They vary considerably in size, but all have flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi access. This is certainly a basic hotel, but what brings people here is its location—directly opposite the trendy Byres Road. The owners are friendly and helpful.
