When to Go

To see the monasteries, churches, and kremlins of the region to the best advantage, you should try to make your visits in spring or summer. Winter visits to the Golden Ring can be magical, but in December and January it gets dark not long after 3 pm. Avoid late March, when the melting snow turns into slush.
