Bus

Various bus companies run daily express buses between Lisbon and Lagos, Portimão, Faro, Tavira, and Vila Real. Allow 3½ to 4½ hours' travel time for all these destinations. Buy tickets online, over the phone, or at ticket offices near the bus terminals. In summer, reserve a seat at least 24 hours in advance.

The main form of public transportation within the Algarve is bus, with the two main companies in the region being Eva and Frota Azul. Every town and village has its own stop, and they are usually close to downtown sights. Individual tickets are relatively inexpensive, but you can save more with a tourist pass (€30.40 for three days, €38 for seven) that covers 16 popular destinations across the Algarve. Some local service doesn't run on Sunday or national holidays.
