White Hotel is a sleek, modern boutique hotel that is a standout in its price category. The spotless rooms, attentive service and that lovely roof terrace with pool are all major points in its favor, and the metro is just steps away from the entrance. Predominantly aimed at business travelers, it's a solid option for leisure travelers looking to avoid the crowds and rapidly-rising prices of the historic center.
Fodor's Expert Review
White by name, white by nature--this light-filled boutique hotel is branco from top-to-toe, and feels like an oasis of calm among the hustle and bustle of the workaday Saldanha neighborhood. A little off the tourist track but handy for the metro, the 41-room hotel is popular with both business and leisure travelers, and offers a lot more bang for your buck than comparable hotels in the historic center. Rooms are spacious and stylish, service is attentive, and the roof terrace with pool and terrific city views is the hotel's crowning glory.
You Should Know The style is slick and modern, but some guests may feel it lacks the charm and character of some other Lisbon boutique hotels

Room
As the name suggests, the 41 rooms and suites at Hotel White Lisboa have an emphasis on crisp, minimalist decor and design. As light and bright as Lisbon itself, the rooms all have modern With a predominantly clean and light décor, the rooms and suites at the hotel all have modern flair, with flat-screen TV and in-room WiFi as standard. The most affordable rooms are compact and lack views, but those between the 2nd and 4th floors are larger, and some have impressive city views. Most double rooms have twin beds that can be joined to make a king-size bed, and have a work space for laptop users.
Tip At 37 to 39 m², the plush Sky Duplex Apartments can accommodate up to three people, and have sweeping panoramic views as well as a double room, kitchenette and separate living space.
Bathroom
Each room and suite has a modern bathroom with powerful walk-in shower, hairdryer and complimentary toiletries.
Lobby
The cool, comfortable and contemporary lobby at Hotel White Lisboa feels a world removed from the busy streets and commuter crush of Saldanha. The minimalist-chic space is available for business meetings throughout the day, and there's a computer terminal for guests' use. Staff at the check-in area are friendly, helpful and efficient, and there are plenty of comfy sofas and chairs--ideal for flicking through the international newspapers provided for guests.
Pool
The rooftop pool and sun terrace is a major draw--guests can cool off in the water, toast themselves on the sunloungers and soak up views over the bright and beautiful city of Lisbon.
You Should Know Don't expect to be doing any laps of the pool--the small space is more about cooling off and snapping photos than serious exercise.
Dining
There's no on-site restaurant, but the continental breakfast, served in the lounge each morning from 7-10 a.m., has a good range of fresh fruits, juices, breads and preserves (and of course, plenty of strong Portuguese coffee), to help fuel a morning of sightseeing or business meetings.
Drinking
There's no bar, but beer and soft drinks are available 24/7 in the lobby, and there's free mineral water in the rooms.
Tip Guests in the suites might want to grab themselves a bottle of their tipple of choice from a nearby shop and enjoy it on the balcony while drinking in those sweeping city views.
What's Nearby
Getting Around
The hotel's location is close to the business district and fairly handy for the airport (a 15-minute drive), and while it's not in the prettiest part of town, the metro is virtually on the doorstep and provides easy access to the sights and attractions of the historic downtown. The Gulbenkian museum and gardens--one of Lisbon's most important cultural centers--is a short walk away, and the TST bus terminal at nearby Praça da Espanha has connections to south-of-the-Tagus beach destinations such as Caparica and Sesimbra.
Restaurants
Away from the crowds of tourists that flood the historic center, Saldanha has some interesting dining options that take in a whole host of international options as well as typical Portuguese lunch spots. For excellent rib-eye steaks, try Block House (3-minute walk), and for family-friendly buffet lunches on a pleasant patio, try the garden restaurant at the Gulbenkian (10-minute walk)
