Fodor's Expert Review O Grilo
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
On the outskirts of the historical center, this little local restaurant comprises a single airy dining room with an open kitchen at one end, so you can watch your meal being prepared. Service is friendly and the food is traditional fare that comes in inexpensive portions that are large enough for two. The cheap daily specials might include sopa de cação (dogfish soup), bacalhau malandro (fried with onion and potato rings), migas com entrecosto (pork ribs and bread stuffing), or cozido à portuguesa (a stew containing pork, beans, sausage, and vegetables). Save room for the doce da casa, made with cookies and cream.
