Batalha

Batalha, which means "battle" in Portuguese, is the site of another of the country's religious structures that memorialize a battle victory. The monastery, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is surrounded by the small city center, with several other smaller, historical monuments scattered around the area.

Batalha is right in the Estremaduran countryside, with rolling hills, mountains, old windmills, pastures, and farming villages that create a fairy-tale-like view from higher points of the city. It's a great area to drive around and explore.
