Cruise Travel

Most cruise ships arrive at Gdynia, either at the Francuskie (French) or Pomorskie (Pomeranian) Quay. The port is within a 20-minute walk (about 1 km/½ mile) of the SKM (suburban rail) stop, which is right next to the main railway station in Gdynia. This train is the easiest and most economical means of transportation within the Tri-City, and the ride into Gdańsk city center takes about 30 minutes. Taxis are readily available, but a ride between Gdańsk to Gdynia will cost you about zł 100.

A few ships arrive in Gdańsk itself. These will dock at two sites in the outer harbor of the city: Oliwskie Quay on the east bank and Westerplatte Quay on the west bank. Both lie 6 km (3.7 miles) from the downtown center. Facilities at Oliwskie Quay, the bigger of the two, include shops and taxi kiosks. It is 1 km (½ mile) to the Oliwa train station for the journey into downtown Gdańsk, or 300 meters to a tram stop (Routes 2, 5, 10, 14, and 15 head into the city). Westerplatte Quay has almost no facilities, with only restrooms and a taxi kiosk. Bus route 106 travels into the city. The downtown core can be easily explored on foot.

Car rentals are not useful for exploring the city, but would allow you to visit the surrounding Pomeranian region. An economy manual vehicle is approximately €63 per day. Companies will pick you up at the port but may add an extra charge. Taxis or limousines can be hired for touring. Taxi rates are zł 5–zł 7 at pickup then zł 3 per km.
