Fodor's Expert Review Muzeum Czartoryskich

Krakow Museum/Gallery Fodor's Choice

Editor's Note: This property is currently undergoing renovations.

This fantastic small museum (main entrance around the corner from Jana Street) is part of the National Gallery. Its collection includes such celebrated paintings as Rembrandt's Landscape with the Good Samaritan. The prize—and to many observers the most beautiful portrait ever painted—is Leonardo da Vinci's Cecilia Gallerani, also known as the Lady with an Ermine. Note that, at this writing, the museum is closed for restoration work that's slated to last until some time in 2018. Only a small section with antiquities is open to visitors, featuring artefacts from Egypt, Etruria, Greece, and Rome.
