Tromsø has more than 100 km (62 miles) of trails for walking and hiking in the mountains above the city. They're reachable by funicular.

Svensby Tursenter. About an hour from Tromsø (including a 20-minute ferry crossing), Svensby Tursenter offers accommodation in small, self-service cabins at the foot of the Lyngen Alps. Tromsø Villmarkssenter. Located half an hour outside the city, this outfitter organizes dogsledding trips, northern lights safaris, glacier walking, kayaking, summit tours, and Sami-style dinners, which take place around a campfire inside a lavvu (a Sami tent).
