Fodor's Expert Review ML
Klokhuisplein 9, Haarlem, North Holland, 2011 HK, Netherlands
This former Dutch mint and printing works, in a 300-year-old building, has been transformed into an elegant hotel with an effortless blend of original architectural features and stylish, modern decor. Originally opened as Stempels, it was rechristened by Mark and Liane Gratama when they took over in 2018 and moved their long-standing award-winning restaurant into the ground floor dining room. There are chandeliers in many public areas and beams in the otherwise modern guest rooms. Bathrooms in the spacious luxury rooms have showers and tubs; others have showers only.
PROS
- great location
- front rooms face Sint Bavo's
- historic building
CONS
- lots of stairs
- bars on nearby main square can be noisy
- public parking expensive
