Getting Here and Around

There are two railway stations in The Hague:

Centraal Station. Centraal Station is in the residential area, but close to the main shopping and nightlife districts. Koningin Julianaplein, The Hague, South Holland, 2595 AA.

Station Hollands Spoor. Station Hollands Spoor is near the central business district. Stationsplein, The Hague, South Holland, 2515 BV.

Trains from Amsterdam run directly to both the Centraal and Hollands Spoor (HS) stations, but Centraal is an end stop, whereas Hollands Spoor is a through-destination and is used as a stop for trains to and from Amsterdam, Delft, and Rotterdam. All international and intercity trains from Brussels and Paris to Amsterdam also stop in Hollands Spoor, but not in Centraal.

By car from Amsterdam, take E19 via Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. To reach the city from Utrecht, take the A12. Once you're approaching the city, follow the signs for the central parking route. This is an extremely helpful ring road that covers the many inexpensive parking lots within the city center.

On buses, trams, and trains you can use an OV-chipkaart (public transport chipcard). These credit card–size tickets can be topped up from machines in the railway stations and are debited as you board and leave trains, trams, metros, and buses. There are information and sales points in the stations, or visit www.ov-chipkaart.nl.

Taxis are available at railway stations, major hotels, and taxi stands in key locations. You can also order a taxi by phone, but they cannot be hailed in the street.
