Rotterdam's holiest shrine to art—with treasures ranging from Pieter Bruegel the Elder's 16th-century Tower of Babel to Mondriaan's extraordinary Composition in Yellow and Blue—ranks among the greatest art galleries in Europe. The top attraction here is the collection of Old Masters, which covers West European art from the 14th to the 19th century; in particular, 15th- to 17th-century Dutch and Flemish art are well represented, with works from the likes of Van Eyck, Rubens, Hieronymous Bosch, and Rembrandt.
