You'll bask in an Asian sense of luxury and service from the moment you enter the lobby of this Japanese-owned hotel on the far outskirts of De Pijp. With its multiple Michelin-starred restaurants, it is highly recommended for foodies.

Room

Western in style and elegantly subdued with neutral colors, all 300 guest rooms are spacious and plushly decked out with comfy beds, large wooden work desks, Nespresso machines and all the other amenities you’d expect in a 5-star hotel. Some rooms could do with an upgrade, but phased renovations are in the works.

Bathroom

Bathrooms are large and luxurious, with separate soaking tubs and walk-in rain showers, and lovely verveine-scented Fragonard bathroom amenities.

You Should Know There is a glass wall between the bathroom and bedroom in the standard doubles, but there’s a modesty screen should you prefer to keep your ablutions private.

Lobby

Very well-appointed, with marble floors, elegant furnishings and Japanese design motifs (think giant gingko leaf-shaped lamps, cherry blossom prints, and origami cranes).

Pool

The large indoor pool (193 f2 x 64 f2) is perfect for doing your laps.

Spa

Calm down and cast off your jet lag at the restful Nagomi Spa & Health, where you can choose from various Eastern and Western-style treatments including massages, manicures/pedicures, facials and body treatments using Sothys products. There are also saunas, a sunbed, a Turkish steam room and a Jacuzzi. Or relax in the lounge with its massage chair.

Gym

The airy gym at Nagomi Spa & Health is equipped with TechnoGym cardio-, resistance and kinesis equipment, as well as kettlebells and free weights.

Dining options are dazzling, with 4 Michelin stars under one roof: French fare at the top-floor Ciel Bleu (two Michelin stars) and downstairs brasserie Serre; sushi at Yamazato (one Michelin star), overlooking a serene Japanese garden; hot Japanese food (teppanyaki) at Sazanka (one Michelin star); and breakfast cooked to order at La Camelia.

Drinking

Don't miss sampling a perfectly mixed cocktail or one of six Champagnes by the glass at the Twenty Third Bar, named for the panoramic views from the 23rd floor.

The trendy De Pijp neighborhood is conveniently near Amsterdam’s business district and major convention center, Albert Cuyp market and within walking distance of the major museums, but the hotel also offers alluring options for those who wish to stay put (including a cooking studio, barber shop, and gift shop!). Tram access is available just outside the hotel on Ferdinand Bolstraat.

For some of the best eggs in the city, head to Omelegg (4-minute walk)? For a convivial atmosphere and delicious Med-led cuisine, corner café Reuring (8-minute walk) is hard to beat (do order the bone-in rib steak!). Or why not try a twenty-tens take on local cuisine at Restaurant Floreyn (11-minute walk)?

Bars

If you’re in the mood for a casual, beachy vibe, try CT Coffee & Coconuts (6-minute walk), where craft coffee and wholesome coconut-inspired food & drink is served from early to late.
