Fodor's Expert Review Hotel St-Nicholas

Located next to the St. Nicholas Gate on the Esplanade, this charming riverside hotel is something of an old hand. Staff know the Moselle area well and cheerfully point out the finest small vineyards, hiking trails, and other prime local spots. The rooms are spacious, and some, like the top-floor suite, have fabulous river views and Jacuzzis. A spa and two pools (inside and outside) add that dash of luxury. The well-regarded Restaurant Lohengrin is also among the better meals in the area and, as you'd expect, has an extensive wine list. Half-board deals are decent value, too.
