Misurina

Nestled on the shores of Lake Misurina, among the Dolomites, Misurina's high altitude, low air humidity, and total absence of dust mites and air pollution, has some saying that the "Pearl of the Dolomites" has some of the purest air in the world. The town itself is rather small, but it's a perfect base to explore Lake Misurina and the Tre Cime of Lavaredo. The surrounding mountains are rich in history and artifacts from WWI and earlier conflicts. Along some of the hikes and vie ferrate (mountain paths with steel cables and fixed anchors and ladders), you can explore caves and trenches complete with informational placards giving details about troop positions and fighting.
