Corvara

Corvara is the main town of the Alta Badia, known for its prime skiing and hiking location in the middle of the Sella Ronda. The first chairlift in Italy opened here in 1946, and today, there are two cable cars—the Col Alto and the Boè—along with 12 chairlifts, making Corvara a convenient base for an active holiday in winter or summer. Corvara is also the start of the First World War Ski Tour, a 49-mile route around Col di Lana that takes you past wartime relics like trenches and forts. The town itself is pleasant and walkable, with a smattering of restaurants, bars, and ski rental and sporting goods stores.
