Train Travel

Stazione Centrale, in Naples' Piazza Garibaldi, is the hub for public transportation both east and west of Naples. The Circumvesuviana connects Naples, Herculaneum, Torre del Greco, Torre Annunziata, Vesuvius, Pompeii, and Sorrento. FS Metroplitana Linea 2 serves Pozzuoli. For the Phlegrean Fields to the west of Naples, take the Cumana line, run by SEPSA, from the terminus at Piazza Montesanto near Montesanto Metropolitana station. Confusion can be avoided by not taking every route map at face value. Baia, for instance, appears on some maps even though the station here vanished years ago. To reach Baia one needs to get down from the train at Fusaro and take a small red bus, waiting outside; likewise to get to Cumae.
