Bus Travel

At around €2.50 (depending on destination) for a one-way extraurbano bus ticket from Sorrento to other locations on the peninsula—and some lines with departures every 20 minutes—the bus is a good way to get around quickly and cheaply. Municipal EAV bus lines radiate out from the Circumvesuviana station to most major destinations on the peninsula, while SITA buses go farther afield to Positano, Amalfi, and Naples.

Inform the driver of your destination when boarding to avoid missing your stop. If traveling up from the port of Sorrento at Marina Piccola, or the waterfront at Marina Grande, you'll need to get an EAV orange bus. The main orange bus stop in Sorrento is on Piazza De Curtis.

Tickets must be purchased in advance. Time-stamp your ticket in the machine at the front of the bus as you board. You can buy tickets at cafés, bars, tobacco shops, and newsstands area-wide.
