What to Wear

We mention dress only when men are required to wear a jacket, or a jacket and tie. Italian men rarely wear shorts in a ristorante or enoteca and infrequently wear sneakers or running shoes or baseball caps—no matter how humble the establishment. The same "rules" apply to ladies' casual shorts, running shoes, and flip-flops. Shorts are acceptable in pizzerie and caffès.
